One of the major strengths of West Lothian as a place and West Lothian Council as a service provider is its people. This should be reflected in any photography used by West Lothian Council.
Wherever possible, high quality photography should be used for any communication. Attention should be given to good lighting (not too dark or light), good colour (not washed out or dull), good cropping (focus on the best part of the photograph), and good content (relevant to message).
Photographs should use strong contrasting tones either in its original format or after software manipulation (eg Adobe Photoshop).
For quality and copyright reasons no photograph over two years old showing people should be used in any application. Never use photography which is downloaded from the internet, or from a non-council source without the photographers explicit approval. If in doubt please contact us.
Our in-house photographers are able to attend events and photo calls as and when required, however, if they are unavailable we can direct you to the council’s contract photographer. Contact us for more information
